Effective Link Baiting Tools And Link Bait Promotion
Links And Traffic :: Seo-services Effective Link Baiting
Link baiting is a link building method that is recommended by all of the search engines, as a "recommended method" for increasing links to a web site.
To use the link baiting process effectively, your link bait should be a tool that is free and is very useful for the people in your target market.
The more useful your Link Bait is to your visitors, the more likely people are going to be to provide a free link to your resource.
When you post the visual display of your Link Bait item, you should make sure that page effectively tells the people who use your Link Bait about your products and services, and how you can be of assistance to them in meeting their needs.
Below, we provide three examples of Link Baiting that we have done over the years. The three examples will give you a limited idea as to our capabilities, but it will help you see the benefits of Link Baiting through the stories of the three examples. Read them if you want, or skip right down to the description of our Link Baiting Service.
Link Bait #1 History
We built our first link bait in 1999. It was built as a fun project, rather than a commercial project. It is one of those things that you get in the mail from your friends and family, then once you arrive, you cuss the friend who sent you the link. But, once you have finished viewing the page, you typically send it to your friends and family as well.
I will give you the link, but do be forewarned that you probably don't want to see it, unless you have ten minutes to spare in your day. {wink} Click here for the original pointless clicking (Google PageRank 3).
Just to see if it has held its position in the search results after all these years, I did a search on Google for "pointless clicking" and found eight copies of the page on other websites. My copy of the page is #2 in the Google listing. Just for curiousity sake, I pulled all eight copies of the page. Seven of those copies are a mirror of my original copy, the current was updated about a year ago to make it better, and the eighth is really close to my original with some minor changes.
I also pulled a Whois on all of the sites to see how many could definitely be proven to be copies, based on the age of the domains. Six of the eight websites were registered since I made the page originally in 1999. The other two were registered before I made the page. But, they are still copies.
It does not bother me in this case that the page has been copied, because it was a fun thing I did way back in those early days of the web. If it were essential to my bottom line, I might care, but it is not.
My Pointless Clicking page was only advertised in my ezine back in 1999. Word-of-mouth built its presence on the Internet. I last advertised it in 2000, and it has been feeding off of word-of-mouth or email ever since.
The page consistently received 3,000 visitors a month from its creation to about 2002, when the company providing my refer-a-friend script shut down. I put a new third-party script in at that time, and by the next time I checked, it had shut down. Again when I updated the script last year, I added a new refer-a-friend script to the page through a third-party. I visited the page today for the first time in over a year, and my new refer-a-friend provider is now shut down. I would say refer-a-friend script providers are unreliable.
For the last two years, even without a reliable refer-a-friend script, the page still gets 210 unique visitors per month. Not bad for a page that I have not actively promoted since 2000.
At this time, Yahoo still shows 149 links to the page. For some time back in 1999-2000, I tracked links made for the page. Most of them turned up on the profile pages of high school kids and college kids, and most carried the embedded keywords suggesting that the page had unseemly photos of the profile holder. Yes, people used trick links to put other people on my page, which was kind of funny in itself.
Link Bait #2 History
On May 1st, 2004, I placed a new link bait on my original commercial website that is in effect a text-to-html conversion tool (Google PageRank 4).
This page has a real counter on it, and it shows real-time updates on the last time the tool was used by a human.
As I look at it right now, the tool has been used 15,818 times (June 13, 2007) in just over three years, and it was last used today.
It is a tool that helps people who have a plain text copy of a document convert that plain text file to a file that has all of its URL and Email links converted to HTML format.
The best benefit for the tool is name and company recognition among the people who are most likely to use my services.
According to Yahoo, this web page has 1949 backlinks.
Link Bait #3 History
Our third link baiting tool has only been available for three months, on a subdomain of this website. It is the Back Links Checking Tool (Google PageRank 3).
It does not yet have many backlinks, as it has only really been available since March of this year, and we really haven't advertised it yet. But, this tool has accounted for helping us to sell services. And it helps keep us in the mind's eye of many of our clients who use it frequently. In the tool's first three months of existence, it has been used nearly one thousand times.
Our Link Bait Design Service
Everybody who wants a link baiting tool, will be looking for something that will really help them to stand apart in their own industry.
Putting a PageRank Checker on a website that is sells tanning supplies will be a very ineffective Link Bait. Most of the people who are interested in a PageRank Checker will not be looking to buy tanning supplies. And, people wanting to buy tanning supplies will most often not even understand what PageRank is or does.
So, our first goal will be to speak with you to get an idea of who is most likely to buy what you are selling. We want to learn, in detail if possible, who is in your target market.
We will then brainstorm internally and come up with some Link Bait ideas. Once we have some ideas on paper, we will come back to you to with those ideas and pick out the one that seems like it would be most effective for your business.
Once we have decided on the Link Bait Idea that we will pursue, the process returns back to us.
We will sit down with our programmers and writers, and we will create your Link Bait Tool from the ground up.
When finished, we will install it on your website and then test it to make sure that it works as it was designed to work.
We Will Promote Your Link Bait
It really is not enough to simply build and make available a Link Bait Tool. Somehow, some way, the ball needs a push to get rolling.
So, we will complete the following promotional tasks to get the word-of-mouth ball rolling for your link bait tool.
How We Will Promote Your Link Bait Tool:
- We will provide a refer-a-friend script to be hosted on your server.
- We will submit your link bait tool to 100 link directories.
